Originally formed and incorporated in 1995, the association was reactivated in 2005 after several years of inactivity. Spearheading the process was our current president, Emily (Em) Kleinman Schreiber ('61), provider of the force that keeps us moving forward. Considering that we have been meeting for less than three years, our membership continues to grow rapidly.

 

In addition to participating in South's 50th Anniversary Celebration, we have grown enough that we have been able to sponsor a scholarship for a deserving graduating senior from the Class of 2007.  Each year we will continue to award deserving graduating seniors with monetary scholarships.

 

In this world of high-tech, we would be remiss if we didn't make use of all available means to keep our association members current and up-to-date on matters of interest to all of us. Please browse through the pages, and feel free to contact us. This is your page, and we'd like to include items of interest to all South alumni. We will do our best to make it the best site around!

 

Oh, by the way, let us know if your class is planning an event. We will be sure to place the details on our calendar for all to see. We hope you will join the Association (see the membership form link at the left) and help us to perpetuate all of the good things that Valley Stream South High School represents.

  $100 -  Lifetime Membership for Alumni

  $15   -  Annual Membership for Alumni (graduated six or more years ago)

  $10   -  Annual Membership for Alumni (graduated five or less years ago)

  $10   -  Annual Associate Membership (not a VSSHS graduate)

 

The Valley Stream South High School Alumni Association is registered under §501(c)(3).

All dues/donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Mission Statement

The purposes for which the Association has been organized are as follows:

  • To encourage and increase interest in an alumni fellowship and create and promote a social atmosphere for its members.
  • To establish, maintain, implement and promote civic pride in the Valley Stream South High School district area.
  • To promote ongoing interest among alumni and to assist in maintaining the level of excellence to which Valley Stream South High School has aspired.
  • To promote an effective working relationship between the Association and its members, the students and teachers of Valley Stream South High School.
  • To create and oversee various scholarship trust funds.
  • To solicit, collect and otherwise raise money for the purposes of this Association.
